that's the output of that command
~$ nvidia-smi
NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.
seems to be a driver issue but have not found a solution yet
Ironically, I stumbled about the entire opposite of this issue the other day. The fans won't hit it until it reaches 60C.
Go to Drivers app, get that settled. Then get either one of those.
Get what settled? I've downloaded the driver from the driver manager and it says my device is using it, but in the terminal it looks like a different story :/
What driver did you install?
Usually, there'd be options. Which one did you go with?
the recommended one, nvidia driver 550
Probably relevant to this forum thread. https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=423931
turn off secure boot first
and keep it off
that's why u have N/A shown for driver
oh man the jet engine is finally gone, thanks for the help! Is turning off secure boot on a home desktop nothing to worry about?
secure boot doesn't really do much
Will they still need or benefit from third-party solutions like these?
