I am trying to install mint on my new Thinkpad which came preloaded with ubuntu. I followed the installation instructions to a T. When booting from the usb I am given the default options to start linux mint cinnamon, however in both default mode and compatibility mode it simply opens ubuntu with no option to install a permanent partition of mint. I am unsure what to do, I have already disabled secure boot, and have also tried flashing a new iso image to the usb but nothing seems to work

go in BIOS, disable fast boot, then ensure uefi usb storage device is at the top of boot priority list.
or if computer is ancient, and has no UEFI, just put usb storage to top
Thank you for the timely response, I will try this and get back to you
