#I need help for calibration color display in linux mint
244 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
The only thing I can think of is brightness controls but I'm not sure that is even what you're talking about
no its not about brightness bro its about gamma
its so frustrating i love mint, in windows it has accurate color idk why in mint showing dull color
i tried this bro, but still the color its not accurate, red colour looks soooooooooooo dull
well I don't know much about colour profiles, my guess is you'd have to download one from your monitor's manufacturer, then set it up in Mint under the appropriate settings thing for that
okay how to do that
also make sure ur not in software-rendering mode.
check in terminal with inxi -Gxx to be sure the GPU is in use and has driver functional
second line shows driver. looks good.
u mean the device-1?
yep
okay so what should i do now
Monitor-1 shows your monitor's model.. u can also confirm on its backplate
backplate?
oh it's the built-in screen?
does it look too washed out/bright?
yea bro its looks awful washed out and also bright, when i was using windows 10 it has accurate clr this is happening in linux mint only bro...
give me me a couple minutte
i find linux more smooth than windows i dont wanna go back to windows cuz of this problem :((
sure bro tnx for helping me
See this guy also experiencing same as me lol
open a text editor now please
yep done
copy all of that into a new file
all you have to do is put the latitude and longitude of your general area
then save the file as redshift.conf
i copied it and pasted it
and put that file directly in /home/$user/.config
google ur city, on google maps
and click it.
then in the address bar, you will see latitude number, longitude number
or just google the coordinates, and put for lat n long in the file
okay first i have to paste that file in the place u mentioned right, so next i have to check the longitude number?
make sure u pasted every line in the file I sent. exactly as it is shown
yes your city x,y coordinates
yep
just for sunrise/sunset reason
wait lemme paste that conf file first
oh lol i have to do it first
the top red title is where it must live. no red writing is to exist in the file
yep so all i have to do is to copy the longitude right
latitude
yea both
both, and no spaces after the equal sign
turn off and disable this applet 100%
once that file is saved with all the correct information in it, and put in the folder I told you, then type 'redshift' in the start menu, and press enter
i have to delete that?
i cant see disable option
yep done
the settings I put here for gamma increase the red slightly, lower the green substantially, and keep blue at a decent value of 0.8
but you can adjust them later if you don't like. you just have to fully shut down redshift from the tray , before changing the conf file,.. then save the changes in the conf file, and restart redshift again from start menu
8.9744603,77.2360807,15z
which one is lat and long
if you want the night colour temperature same as day value, then just make day value=night value
8.9 is latitude. are you in an arctic region?
siberia, finland?
5 decimal places is enough for both
nah bro i am from tamil nadu india
oh right it's 8.9 degrees north of equator
8.9744603 = lat
77.2360807 = long
yep
right
even 4 decimal places enough
wait i have to download redshift?
yep
i dont see redshift app in start menu
dont use together or crash
middle ones right
yeah, it should pull in redshift base
i wont use night light probably haha
/home/$user/.config
to this directory right
done
ok. start up redshift then. u should see the effect visually right away
show the text of the file.. open it , take a screenshot
error on my part, 2nd line
press enter after [redshift]
and delete any space before the word temp..
you may also want to put day colur temp to 6200 maybe now since it's probably day for you
like this
delete teh space i said
uhh does it matter because all i want my colors to look accurate... and also should i have to change often when at night?
u can set it once to another colour temperature at night n leave it for ever
line 7 error
no space after location-
that's all?
error on line 6
space?
no spaces between any numbers
how about now
stretch the window wide and show ss
line 9 must be one line
stretch window wide to be sure
put temp day 6200
it looks purple
yep i did
yep done
then save and relaunch
log out and back in
yep
in windows its so easy to calibrate,🥱
hey i think its software issue in some softwares its showing slightly accurate colors
anyway, now that you logged back in, relaunch redshift. how is it?
KDE Plasma desktop environment is also very easy to do it.
See in inkscape the red is think
In 1 notification should be think clr as well but it looks dull and also in browsers
idk put the red gamma lower than .8 then. maybe .7
Which linux uses kde?
Tuxedo OS, Kubuntu, Feren OS, Spiral or Sparky KDE, Fedora KDE
fedora? bt it has less customization right
not really.
i downloaded fedora and installed linux mint lol
all KDE environments are highly customizable.. only thing is Fedora uses rpm packages, not deb
so it's different family, slightly different terminal commands. though u can use KDE Discover (the graphical software center)
the other ones I mentioned, especially the first three, are all ubuntu-based, like Mint. The two S ones are Debian based
so its very easy to calibrate display in fedora?
did u try this?
its looks so blue bro
any kde distro
okay wait a minute i have fedora file i will text u after booting it
typically, the Applet i had u turn off or remove would allow u to adjust R,G,B easily and perfectly
i already deleted that bro
but u must turn off redshift 100% (logout and back in and make sure the icon is not in tray) to run that gamma applet
are you going to do a test drive of it from USB?
yea lets see if its easy calibrate
alright
nah
are you sure you got the fedora kde ISO last time, or the gnome one?
I already have the fedora 41 workstation iso file bro
Gnome is linux mint right
So there is 2 version of it?
yep
U said fedora is kde lol
what's the iso filename exactly
Can I show u the site that I downloaded
I downloaded the for Intel and amd x86_64
Lol there is separate site
Should I download this one
i think Fedora will be using KDE as its official desktop this year. For now, the workstation version is Gnome.
get that one in ur last pic
Gnome???
Sry I don't get it 😅
just get that one in last pic. delete old file
it may work
Yea I used fedora writer for Linux mint
if not get ventoy flasher from ventoy.net
see youtube. huge difference
Yep I find some softwares like inkscape is works smoother without lag in Linux rather than windows
I mostly do game dev on godot and Capcut for edit that's all...
kde desktop is more traditional desktop layout like windows 95-windows 7 /cinnamon
gnome is more keyboard based and operates and looks very different
plasma 'classic' application menu
Reactionary theme used.
Just right-click menu button and choose 'Alternatives' to pick it.
u dont have to, just saying there's efficient menu options
Yep I love old looks lol
and if u want settings to look more familiar, set it to ICON mode, instead of text list modee
What's that
when u hover on any setting icon, it shows sub-categories it contains
Bro it looks neat bro ngl
open settings. it's in menu as a favourite (probably an icon of switches box)
from there u can find Display and mess around
For display calibration?
and resolution, screen scaling, everything
Lemme check
I think it's working
Right screenshot is crct accurate clr
I used icc profile
i cant tell from shots
I took it from my phone camera
there's also RGB gamma in advanced i think, or scroll down
i mean if it looks good to u, great.
Yep bro
see what version plasma . just search 'info center' in menu
or do inxi -SGxx in terminal
anyways, im out. goodbye
Yep see u later thanks for help bro
