Hey! I’m trying to get Linux off my laptop. I’m giving it to a friend so he can use it for work and not only does he want windows back on it, but I’ve also forgotten my password for Linux. I’m on mint cinnamon 22, any help will be appreciated, thank you!

get ShredOS, flash it to USB (or use ventoy to make an all purpose bootable USB stick)

#

boot that laptop with shred OS off usb stick

#

do a simple shred method to the internal disk.

How do I boot from the usb on Linux? Or is it sort of the same way as changing from windows?

u boot the usb up by pressing the specific boot menu key your pc manufacturer lists on a google search

instructions for ventoy or etcher. (note etcher makes USB drive read only and needs screwing around to wipe that)

#

an alternative method if you're wanting to just put windows and not care about shredding any personal forensic data on the laptop:

#
  • make Ventoy stick. use GPT partition style and use NTFS in its 2 partition Option menus
#

then, copy gparted-live iso (gparted.org) to ventoy usb stick. u may boot it and use gparted app in that to simply make a new partition table, as GPT to the laptop drive
