#linuxmint new kernels

depending on what ubuntu version you have you probably already have them
if you want to switch to a non OOTB kernel then you can use the mainline repo
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds
you mean that Ubuntu will automatically install the newest tested one available?
the latest ubuntu release has 6.11 which is only one or two versions behind the latest kernel
yeah, I was asking about LTS like 22.04
then use the mainline repo
how does LM source them?
Ubuntu LTS already has 6.8
it's in the main repo
It's why LM doesn't offer anything above 6.8 by default
yes and how can I obtain 6.8 on e.g 22.04, like it is possible on LM?
Linux mint is based on 24.04
no linuxmint 21.x is actually based on ubuntu 22.04. read my initial message please
just update ubuntu if you want newer kernels
so it just does it itself while LM requires you to install it manually?
probably
virus
I'd recommend using Mainline tool for changing kernels in ubuntu.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cappelikan/ppa
sudo apt update
sudo apt install mainline
@glad peak solved?
