Hi all! I'm trying to type accented characters as used in the Spanish language (ñ, á, é, ü, etc...).
This can be easily accomplished in Windows by holding the alt key while typing 0252 or another "alt code" on the numpad.
In Linux Mint there's a functionality to press Ctrl+Shift+U which will display a u which indicates you're inputting a special character code.
However, I cannot find an accurate list for these u codes. I'll type what some chart says should give a + sign but instead it gives me a Chinese character or a Greek letter.
Could somebody help me find the correct list of u codes?

same file can be found in /etc/console-setup
then go to Settings: Keyboard, and enable the COMPOSE key
usually it's the right-ALT key, but can be made another unused one, such as Scroll Lock key.
then when you hold it, and do the combinations outlined in that file, it will produce the special character.
example: compose+ " o
should create an o with two dots over it
I'm not seeing a COMPOSE key option in my Keyboard options. Could you show me what that'd look like?
Okay, so I'm starting to get it.
I actually don't have to hold it (holding starts a turbo-toggle), and lines like compose 'c' '0' to copyright works for © but then compose 'c' 'o' to copyright will give me ǒ so I'm curious if you know what's going on there.
BUT all the Spanish characters work great 😄 ÑõãẼũ
Thanks for the help. If y'all have a close button then my main question has been answered
Yeah just follow the guide file I posted, and u can tag this solved
compose 'c' 'o' to copyright will give me ǒ so I'm curious if you know what's going on there.
It's simple. the o with a curve above it looks like a c sideways.
c , (c and comma) should give c cedilla accent
