Hello! I installed mint on an old laptop and loved the simplicity and efficiency of it. I am wanting to make the switch on my main gaming pc. I use steam for all of my games and do not play the small handful that don’t work correctly on Linux. Any tips for the switch? Anything I should look out for? I have been building any using computers for years so I am not worried about growing pains. Thank you!

Congrats 🙂
I recommend starting with a dual boot setup. This way, you can enjoy the flexibility of both systems. Sometimes things don’t go as planned, and certain software or games may not be available or work seamlessly on Linux.
see above, a dualboot won't hurt probably. the install itself is straightforward. not sure what else I can tell you
you shouldn't have too many issues playing steam games. protondb.com is a great resource if your game requires a tweak to get it started. gghf 🙂
i was in a similar position
i havent run into a game yet that hasnt worked for me outside of fortnite / similar kernel anticheat games
dual boot is nice i occasionally do run across a niche program i need windows for
if you can i would keep each install on separate drives
windows can get greedy with the bootloader
if you have a nvidia GPU may have to play with the drivers a bit but theres a ui for that
past that gz and good luck, grass is mintier on the other side
PS. for GOG/Epic/Amazon games theres the heroic launcher
its all 3 of those launchers combined into one, and also has proton baked in like steam
