#How do i delete intel rst

if your firmware settings revert itself after a while, I guess it could mean a dead CMOS battery?
You mean Intel Rapid Storage? There should be a BIOS option for that.
Empty CMOS battery resetting things is a good call, check for that as well.
my moms notebook does have some issues with the battery
should i get a new one then
The CMOS battery is a small button cell, not the main battery that powers the laptop. They last around 8-10 years and can usually be replaced.
Some newer machines use the main battery to keep CMOS going
Sacrilege
I penny saved is a penny earned
If it is saved by removing a necessary component and delivering a worse product, shame on the moron who "saved" that penny.
ok i will try replacing the cmos battery tomorrow thanks
They are usually CR2032 button cells, but some laptops are special snowflakes and use something else, so take a look before you buy anything.
yeah some models have a stupid wires soldered or spot welded to the coin battery and all wrapped in a black shrink-plastic sheath. Hate those so much.
but the other thing to look at is also turning off Windows Fast Startup, because it may preserve certain windows core settings that carry over to the motherboard and Linux.
open an administrator-mode command prompt in Windows, and type powercfg /h off and press enter, to accomplish that.
once done, turn off RST in BIOS and boot linux.
If Windows wont ever boot again, then, well sorry charlie
u can revert and put linux on an external SSD
