So, I was trying to install broadcom drivers from something I saw on a post and it said to do sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get upgrade. whenever I try to run /sudo apt-get upgrade, the console window does it's thing for some time and then it says something about grub and configure and at the botto, was a "button" that said <Ok> but the problem is, that is not really a button, it just said that so I couldn't press it and after sometime where I was waiting for something to happen (Spoiler Alert, Nothing happen) I just closed my laptop which the console stopped by asking for my password but after that I was able to close the laptop, now something must have been corrupted and once you go past the login screen, everything is black with no icons, you can right click and open console from there but that is it, also, the windows have no bar at the top, you know, the one that says the name and has the minimize, maximize, and close buttons, yea, that's gone. I can reinstall LMDE 6 but then I have no other way of at least trying to install my wifi card's drivers

The "OK" button may have been a text UI item that you could press with the keyboard but not with the mouse.

Lets start by recovering your files. Even if you can't boot up you can very easily boot a live usb and back everything up. It's important to do this before reinstall. Reinstalling isn't expected to preserve your files

#

You may want to use Mint 22 instead of LMDE as it is slightly more user friendly and whilest all open source software is equally available some things are offered for Ubuntu and not Debian. Upon completion of your install please set up timeshift so that you can painlessly roll back instead of having to reinstall then you can post a thread on the wifi issue and get some help with that

as for file recovery, it was just a clean install that got corrupted, there is nothing

ah still suggest timeshift and snapshots

#

insofar as the original issue it would be helpful to think back to what led to the original issue

#

be careful of following directions intended for different versions of linux or which are very old

#

try to avoid modifying the system version of python as that is quick way to break your system
