you can set a lower resolution like 800x600 and see if 120hz appears then

are you using HDMI or any adapters?

i have no idea what to do here then, i suppose the issue is with cable/connection. you can wait if maybe curunir knows about this.

Figured it out, HDMI didnt support 120HZ in my resolution so I switched to a display port cable and it worked just fine

@icy osprey Hey, I do face a similiar issue. I have now switched to Cinnamon Wayland and I still don't have an option for 120hz.
I am using HDMI (i have to) and it is connected to a rtx 2070S.
I want to run it in 4K @ 120hz. It did work completely fine on my previous windows install.
