#Anybody know why applications take longer to launch/load on dwm then on cinnamon

Hasn't happened to me on any other distro, only on mint. I want to use dwm instead of any other de or wm, but its unusable with the loading times

I can't particularly say, since intuitively speaking, DWM should be faster (given that it's a window manager). That aside, the fact that it was installed atop of DWM may have negatively affected such, since more often than not as well, it's not suggested to replace the built-in desktop environment or install one atop of the already existing system, like you may have did.

I suggest doing the following:

  • Review DWM configs
  • Use strace to trace system calls
  • Check system logs
  • Monitor CPU and memory usage in the Task Manager

Is there any reason on earth to use DWM?

Did you change anything else other than just the session type at login? I once hit a weird bug where the display manager introduced substantial latency for reasons still unknown.
