#mac dual boot linux mint on external ssd, first time booting error?

not following this. so the latest pic right above this message is the "fully installed" attempt to boot?
and if you were gonna attempt to boot the Live USB this very second, it would go nicely to the Mint Live desktop?
I suppose you'll have to find a way to enter your bios settings and check up on two things. a) the boot mode and b) precisely what is in the boot priority order
turn off the computer and then turn it back on. watch the screen very carefully for a key to press in the first 4 seconds of powerup
so plug the usb-ssd in, then pick EFI boot from that icon "boot camp" thing, then choose the 'ubuntu' or grubx64 efi file.
i vaguely remember cases of grub messed
it's cuz windows was on that particular ssd b4 prob
was it?
cuz u could probably fix that up
do u have a Windows computer to test the drive with?
do u have the Mint iso as a single file?
on ur Mac hdd?
np
let's try something different
mac is from what year?
ok koo
ok go on ur windows computer
go to website ventoy.net and get that flasher program
comes as zip file
then step by step
ok have ur usb to work with in the port, none else
then launch ventoy2disk from the decompressed ventoy folder, then
go to option menu
alter only one thing:
part'n style: GPT
then ensure it found correct flash drive shown in main vtoy installer window
then if so, click Install
after that verify the ISO on the hdd of the windows computer
if it checks out, copy and paste it to the empty new "ventoy" usb
****To verify checksum from Windows:
Open Powershell, and navigate to the folder the ISO is in, then type
Get-FileHash "nameoffile.iso" -Algorithm SHA256
or, don't navigate to location, but specify it:
Get-FileHash -Path "C:\samplefolder\samplesubfolder\nameoffile.iso" -Algorithn SHA256
(one space after word path, then double-openquotes)
then compare that calculated hash to the sha256,txt file contents on Mint website near download links
I forgot what your actually really trying to do
oh now I remember and u couldnt get it to boot up
@wanton terrace
Ventoy your external SSD. then slap the Mint ISO on it, then set up persistence on it.
save and maximize that text file, so u can read it fully and easily.
step 22 choose the 4 GB ext4 casper file
(you can grow it later too if needed)
