Description:
My computer does not output any audio following a Mint 22 install. No audio devices are found, only "Dummy Output." Initial investigation shows this is a problem with SOF configuration. I can confirm that all required firmware is in my /lib/firmware/intel/ directory, but it is not recognized.

Additional Information:
A complete set of diagnostic outputs can be found here: http://alsa-project.org/db/?f=a4463148a1450edac7e69f5a1171c3f73808fcbb

anything that ever gets the sofaudio driver is always a pain or impossible.

#

from my observations and experience.

#

Mint 22 is on full Pipewire, so it "should" just work these days, but idk

#

is it a very fresh installation?

Very fresh, as of last night.

if it's proven to not work, get an external USB DAC and/or BT speaker.

mortal sky
#

linux-hardware exists though,

undone merlin
#

the one whose logo looks like a Ninja Turtle, but it's a penguin

mortal sky
#

And allegedly the sound card is supported in kernel version 5.18 and newer, so the basic compatibility is there

undone merlin
#

does it show a list of distros where it's not only 'detected', but 'works'?

mortal sky
#

Nope, it's only detected in the 9 scans present

mortal sky
#

well, at least i can confirm that my bluetooth speaker works. inconvenient, but could be worse. thanks!

this may be due to secure boot being On. shrugs

mortal sky
#

That might be the case. I turned off secure boot since installing, but I think the damage may be done. I might try to reinstall to see if it helps

undone merlin
#

idk if u read that, but always wise to

mortal sky
#

I did, but I couldn't actually get it to work.

#

Got odd errors when I ran the install script

undone merlin
#

idk double check secure boot didnt reactivate somehow. expecially if a Windows dual-boot scenario exists

mortal sky
#

Well, I'll give it another shot

undone merlin
mortal sky
#

Yes, I left a Windows partition in place just in case. I confirmed secure boot hadn't reactivated though.

ensure Fast Startup is disabled in Windows Control Panel: Power Options: Buttons

mortal sky
#

Will do next time I hop over to Windows.

undone merlin
#

that may cause Secure Boot to reactivate, amongst a host of other problems. so disable, then recheck BIOS on thr secure boot status. Then retry script. gl

mortal sky
#

I confirmed all that is off, re-ran the script, and still not working. I'm calling it for now.

can use this for mic/headphones, not expensive at all.
