Nope. No need to.
The installation process should already cover this.
Upon installation, there should be a section where you are asked what type of installation you'd like to use. Just proceed with "Install Linux Mint alongside existing OS."
Yeah I did that
Is it not there?
im stuck here
Just proceed with install now... since the system seems to have taken care of the bootloader and swap partitions already.
It gave me warn saying like you cannot revert changes you made
So im worried if my data on that drive gets removed
Pretty much the norm.
If anything, you should've backed up those sensitive files prior.
It would only wipe the sda4 partition, so not much to worry, unless your files are there.
well theres over 15 gigs of items its not possible for me to backup them so thats why I was thinking to create partition
In the SDA4?
lemme give you a screenshot
Disk Management doesn't show EXT4 partitions buddy.
It is also unlikely for you to have data on that EXT4 SDA4 partition.
this is not my screenshot btw
what in the actual-
aight mbmb go ahead
where are you in the process
💀 I was just showing that I was stuck at this process
you clicked the "Install Linux Mint alongside Windows"?
let me bootup mint and send you screenshots using my phone
brb
Yo i booted mint using usb drive now is it ok if i take it out
If you already installed it. Otherwise, no.
Alright im sarting installation
@ashen garden
Did you create a blank partition in Windows earlier?
Nope
I think sda 2 and sda 5 has files
Yessir
Lemme go back check that
Yep that one :>
Done now check dis ss
You can drag that divider to check how much space you want for your Linux Mint installation.
I made sure to ask if you proceeded with this option, because earlier, I kinda got reminded that it wasn't the default interface for such type of installation.
Yes i set that im just worried if it erases data from that 500gb drive
It shouldn't afaik...
Yeah i thought it would be better if i send ss of advanced prtition tool
Alright im really worried should i continue?
Thats why i tried partition method
Go ahead. Your data should not be messed with by the installer in this case.
As far as I'm concerned, I've tried this method before and the installer respects your existing Windows installation.
If anything, the Windows installation is the one that doesn't respect the Linux one, in certain instances lol.
Continue :>
Done its loading
If you'd were able to notice, your drive has 500GB, yet it only read/grabbed that 130GB.
Yep :>
Continue? 👁️👄👁️
Yes.
Its its gonna format 2 drives?!!!!??
I think Mint created a partition for itself with that option.
partition dearie....
partition is different from a drive
a partition exists within drives
I mean i have 2 partition of drive 0
the only partition it formats is the partition it has created for itself
C disk and D disk
it won't do anything to the other existing data
🥶 i dont want to lose D disk it has photos OK THANKS I WAS SOOOO WORRIED👍
yeah yeah, i understand that
Btw is there any way to access other partition files?
next time, you should back your data up to the cloud or any existing external local drives
from within mint?
Yep
It should be found by the system and displayed on the left pane of the file manager by default.
Is it ok if i put admin in username? im worried if it mess with the system
Anything should be fine, I suppose.
Bro my keyboard and mouse got stuck 👁️👄👁️
It has rgb but aint working whadda
RGB is working fine but it aint working (typing or moving)
Is there any sleep function like windows do?
In Mint?
Ye
Ok im in the final step of installation "Who are u" is it ok if i shut down directly? 🥶
There is (Suspend) but I don't suggest using it while you're in the installation process...
I don't think so.
yeah... just wait for now
💀 erm the username and Name is set to aka can i change later
i'm not so sure about the username... but the name is easily changeable
In windows u cant change the name and file name stays the same 😔😔
Alright
Installing system? Isnt it like already installed
Nope... You're booting from a USB.
Seeeeesh excited its half way to complete
