is this macOS made to look like EndeavourOS, or EndeavorOS made to look like macOS?
oh @wintry junco sorry forgot to ping :3
EndeavourOS made to look like MacOS
cool--you did such a good job i couldnt tell OwO
Yo!
It was better with Aylurs Widgets but that's not on Gnome 46
ahh im sorry
i used to be a mac user daily, so i cant believe i got fooled
Helps I have my dad's Mac mini for reference
awesome :3
the best mac-like experience ive found out of the box is hellosystem, but its freebsd based (not a linux distro)
i daily drove hellosystem for a little, but using a more obscure os is hard
I love a MacOS like experience, Apple did so well with their ui
Btw the pc is ancient
yeah; macos is way better than windows in terms of ux
Facts
(and i mean, in terms of everything tbh)
I'll give them gaming but that's it
yeah;.freebsd is the best os for gaming though; at least if you only play free and open source games
I play MC so that's a no go lol
freebsd runs linux apps
its binary-compatible with linux, so the software availability is the same
Hold up I'm starting discord on my dad's mac
To show you how it looks, it's updating discord rn
@heavy ravine
this is my dads mac homescreen (stage manager is on for screenshot purposes)
cool!
i remember now; mac has its bar attached to the top whereas yours is detached
thats the only noticeable difference is that top panel
I could attach it I just like it
yeah; i prefer my panels detached
unfortunately i use cinnamon so theres no way to detach it 😭
Gnome is superior
im told as much, but i found it harder to theme
clearly thats a skill issue though, considering what you've done :3
Id be willing to guide you through it
wouldnt i have to reinstall my os?
other than my panel, i really like my current rice
No
(im not a furry i promise; i just like that wallpaper :3)
I can do it easily OH DEBIAN FANTASTIC
ok, then what do i do?
yeah i like debian :3
Can you give me an hour watching Blackadder
👍
@heavy ravine if you don't want to wait follow this guide
well, idek how to go from cinnamon to gnome
and im kinda scared to just for a better panel
It's absolutely fine
Your legit installing an app
And extensions to go with it
ok; ill give it a go
Just follow the guide and you'll be good
well first i have to get onto gnome
No
oh yeah, i was reading it an i can use the gnome extension manager
whew, thatll make this much easier; im following the guide rn
tysm :3
@heavy ravine how did it go?
well i realized that gnome panel settings dont work with cinnamon 😦
also, i realized that the panel they use in that tutorial cant appear while youre in a fullscreen application, which is problematic
Oh I'm sorry
I had no clue I switched to GNOME after I left the nest (mint) with Debian so I have no clue
Btw what distro you using?
just plain debian :3
i like the simplicity of it UwU
im told endeavorOS is great though OwO
is this price reasonable?
to me I think it’s a very good price, for the effort they put into their ecosystem, best value laptop on the market right now for the price for modern tasks.
If you have money to burn yes, MacBooks are the best laptop in my opinion the OS is simply supreme, also if you have the extra budget upgrade your storage to 1tb as you can't add it on later
Well what do you do mainly, editing, browsing, gaming?
Is that the MacBook pro or MacBook Air?
air, 15 inchs 16 gb ram, 512 gb storage (you can just buy external ssds which many people do), and mac books are generally great for everything, but most importantly the battery life, which professionals need.
I do some programming, browsing ofc and gaming can be done on a game console for cheaper, easier, and less of a headache, I say all of this from experience I have owned a gaming pc that has up to date specs, and thinkpads, a mac + a gaming console is just the best combo in opinion, unless your a hobbiest who has some time to burn instead of burning some money.
That usecase definitely fits a MacBook also smart choice going with more ram
At the same time, an old thinkpad running i3-wm or cinnamon or xfce seems nicer and more comfortable for certain tasks, love the thinkpad design, although mac books have unparalleled screen ppi, (pixels per inch) so you can’t see the pixels when you are using the laptop, and they confused the resolution just good enough, honestly they deserve the overpricing. still kind of insane though 1,700$ lol.
