I'm trying to connect a USB NTFS external hdd but it gives this very vague error anytime I try to access the drive in the file system, the drive itself is fine as I can check it in windows and it works as expected, any ideas on how to fix this?

I'm trying to connect a USB NTFS external hdd but it gives this very vague error...
minor glitch in the recent version of Mint
Open the Disks app found in the start menu, in Accessories
click the external usb drive on the left
click the NTFS partition in the middle
click the gear icon beneath.
choose repair filesystem
once done, u may click the play button (triangle icon) and the partition should mount and be ready to use in the file manager
next reboot, u can just click it also in devices section of file manager if it's plugged in
