that's just your USB adapter being overzealous and offering digital output. If it's just a plain old analog microphone, it wont have SPDIF.
SPDIF is more of a fancy digital stream interface that DVD players often used to have, and some sound mixers or external sound cards for delivering a digital stream to a receiver amplifier that can decode it.
