#The system does not control cooling (MSI laptop)
37 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
The fan is often BIOS controlled afaik.
Perhaps, fancontrol may help you.
Run apt search fancontrol to find out more, and sudo apt install fancontrol if you want to install it.
I tried using sensors and fancontrol, but they do not want to work, due to the fact that the fans in my laptop do not support PWM
That's rough. The only thing that controls your fans might just be your BIOS.
Not that I'm quite well-versed at it either.
Perhaps, you can search around if there's a specific utility for your hardware.
😦
😦
when I had windows, my laptop controlled the fan normally
Windows is not Linux and Linux is not Windows :>
Is not answer
Check nbfc section here; https://www.baeldung.com/linux/control-fan-speed
This repo might help as well; https://github.com/hbriese/fancon
Just saying, because people's expectations are something else.
miskler@MBook:~$ sudo pwmconfig
[sudo] пароль для miskler:
# pwmconfig version 3.6.0
This program will search your sensors for pulse width modulation (pwm)
controls, and test each one to see if it controls a fan on
your motherboard. Note that many motherboards do not have pwm
circuitry installed, even if your sensor chip supports pwm.
We will attempt to briefly stop each fan using the pwm controls.
The program will attempt to restore each fan to full speed
after testing. However, it is ** very important ** that you
physically verify that the fans have been to full speed
after the program has completed.
/usr/sbin/pwmconfig: There are no pwm-capable sensor modules installed
last line is normal?
must be an MSI computer
Normal but eh... not good.
Not that I have any pwm-capable sensors in my machine either.
You guessed right.
officially, these laptops do not support Linux and software is not supplied on them
That's why I said community.
@woeful gazelle look at this!

no has .deb biuld, i cant install is
Follow the installation manual in the readme file.
WOW
Now I can control it! it was at 2300 rpm, I can rev it up to 7400!
it's really powerful
The question remains: how much can I set the parameters so that the fan doesn’t fall off after a week?
That I'm not aware of.
@supple ermine you my herou!
Thanks! Have a good one :>
