#Mint cannot find my cd drive/blank blueray

I am trying to burn a windows 11 iso to a blueray disk (25GB) but neither Brasero or K3B can find the empty disk. I have no idea how to get my system to recognize it. I am not sure it can even recognize my cd drive at all as I am a beginner to linux. I am hoping to dual boot into WIndows 11.

#

It looks like it did detect the drive but only as Read-Only?

#

When I insert the disk, it does audibly spin inside the machine.

#

When I insert a CD that has content on it, it mounts with no issues. It only seems to be having an issue with the blank disk

#

It looks like the issue is that my computer doesn't have a blueray reader, but my new issue is that I can't burn the Windows 11 iso to a regular 4.7GB CD because the iso is too large. Is there any way I can install windows to dual boot from?

use Ventoy to prep a USB stick. put win iso on it. you'll need an 8 GB blankable stick

#

before you do that, you need to know the current boot mode of your mint install

#

****To see if Linux is booted/installed as UEFI or BIOS mode:
In terminal: ls /sys/firmware/efi
a 'no files found' means it's booted as legacy BIOS

#

install win 11 by booting the ventoy usb the same 'mode' as the above result.

#

pretty sure Windows 11 must install in UEFI mode, so hopefully your Mint install already is.

Unfortunately not

memory cardd+reader / slot?

I do have a slot but no spare sd cards atm

ruby root
#

the BIOS would have to support cardslot boot as well

I'll need to go out and buy a spare usb drive

you will likely need to boot Mint live cd, and shrink the ext4 partition cuz Windows can't see it

#

get at least a 16 GB usb 3 stick. then u can ventoy it, put both iso's on it, and do the job
