why is KDE involved in this?
might need to remove SDDM and use a DM that works for your WM

Well the graphical login screen you see is called the display manager (DM). If you had KDE Plasma on the system originally, then it would have used SDDM as its display manager and that works great to login to KDE.
But it may fail or not be compatible with another window manager or environment.
Yeah like I have been trying to switch over to Ragnar but like every time I do like I chose it in the session tab on my login screen it just freezes yk what I mean
watch some vids by Distrotube regarding switching window managers or desktop environments. I think there's a key thing to enable the new DM and disable or delete the old.
