disable the secure boot in BIOS
its already off
i have been using linux mint on hdd for a long time so its already off
try unplugging the hdd temporarily and see if it boots from the ssd
if that works and you verified all the data is there you can wipe the hdd
afterwards you can make a new partition on the hdd and use it to store extra data
Isn't it possible to set the boot priority order in the BIOS?
the problem is, @harsh gyro that you probably have TWO identical EFI partitions now. They both indicate the same data. and that is to start an OS off the HDD.
oh
so what should i do now
as said i already did that
u just want to boot one operating system, right?
Welp, seems like I can't read
@harsh gyro
yes
I would recommend to unplug the HDD, then run up a Mint live USB.. use the Boot Repair application there to do a boot repair operation onto the SSD. once that is done. test operation.
if all is good, you may replug the HDD after shut off power, then once again, boot live USB.. use gparted to delete the EFI partition FROM THE OLD HARD DRIVE. that should be good to go after, since the system will only see the new EFI on SSD
i am having a laptop so its not easy to unplug
nope
then how?
i dissessmbled like 150 parts -_-
fine then just boot live usb, and wipe the hard drive clean.
afterwards, run boot repair tool while still in the live session.. and let it update the bootloader to the SSD. (it shouldnt find anything else, since you wiped the hard drive)
my last reply was to do it without disassembly.
up to you which method you want to go with.
let me see
oh nice to hear. Did this method work as the solution for you? #1258719274936176702 message
oh this method. ok. yeah that would definitely fix it
SOLVED
for future reference: don't use cloning tools especially if you're cloning the entire drive. it will almost always lead to issues like this or data loss
oh i got it
i saw a guide to use cloning tools online
