#Error while booting into linux mint
25 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
i wouldnt worry about it if it boots anyways. apparently a bios update might fix it
Is this a common thing ?
I see the erors mention _SB a lot. ensure Secure Boot and TPM is turned off in bios, as well as RST if u turned it back on after install.
i never had it. there is usually some sort of text or warning when you boot. if anything like that happened on windows windows just wouldnt tell you to keep looking professional.
Ok but in the documentation it mentions that the new version of mint has secure boot support
🤷♂️
The strange thing is I did install both Fedora and Linux earlier, but none of these errors showed up 🤷🏽♂️
@late pike try reviving packages. Hold shift on reboot, press on the second option go to recovery mode, and choose the second option which should say recover packages. Wait for it then press the first option it should stop it I hope.
Thanks man will have a look at it later on.
BTW I have the 5.15 kernel. Any idea how I can get the latest kernel ? Complete noob in Linux here 😅
Generally, and I emphasize this: You DON'T need to put a newer kernel just because it exists . Only if there's some new cutting-edge hardware added to the system that the current one can't recognize (eg. video card, usb/internal soundcard, webcam, pen tablet, etc) or the current hardware is glitching out (eg- flashing screen, freezing)
but if you must, in Mint see the Update Manager: "View" menu item, then "kernels"
Recommend a 6.5 kernel.
For some reason the older kernels have display issues commonly
use update manager
Yes. Unless you buy a computer with a BIOS built for Linux and Windows.
if it still boots i would just ignore it
it happens pretty commonly on some machines with linux
Just listen to these people they are smarter than me
Did you resolve this, @late pike ?
Nah bro. As people over here suggested I just ignore it now 😂
