#Changing from Windows to Linux Min
14 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Take USB stick, download Linux Mint ISO, checksum Linux Mint ISO, flash Linux Mint ISO onto USB stick, boot into the USB, go through the installer (it should automatically set up everything for you), Enjoy
Also: You should really try googling before posting here, the Linux Mint documentation has a very friendly tutorial on how to install Linux Mint
I did and being the absolute layman that I am tried following it only to become completely lost, and now I'm a little worried that I am relying on older tutorials as they keep mentioning balenaEtcher to help in installing everything. Unfortunately, Etcher works differently from my end compared to theirs so now I'm here.
I also mentioned in #💬general that I'll probably require a call and voice chat to ensure everything goes smoothly
On Windows, you should use https://rufus.ie
Rufus is a small application that creates bootable USB drives, which can then be used to install or run Microsoft Windows, Linux or DOS. In just a few minutes, and with very few clicks, Rufus can help you run a new Operating System on your computer...
I'll hang in this thread if you need any help
Disable fast boot, secure boot, tpm and legacy boot/CSM on your BIOS.
Have a ventoy USB with mint ISO
Then just boot
Please don't. I discourage the use of it due to boot issues
Rufus has worked great for me for the past 5 years
I've seen enough failed boots here so
Also, it wastes your flash drive space
Like.. you got a 16 gb drive and you waste half of it if using just one ISO
Ventoy leaves that space free for use
