#Do i really need a USB to install?

Completely new to linux, was thinking of installing it on a new laptop i'm getting today and i've been seeing some mentions of USBs while looking around, do i really need one or can i install just fine without?

Well, you can get then a CD or so (not so comfortable choice), but it's not Windows, so as far I know, just keep with the USB
