How would I be able to modify my DE so the programs at the bottom show their names like they do in Windows 95 through Vista, as opposed to just being the program icons? This is really just a customisation thing, I prefer how it looks

got to applet manager, search windows, in the settings you can adjust to icons to just be icons, show full names (what you want), show what it’s doing, and other things

#

i would recommend if you ever have a basic question just google the question followed with “linux mint”. the forums have so much good info, it’s how i figured out how to set up my DE!

Admittedly I only asked here cause I didn't know how to word it in a search engine (Linux having different terms and all, I wasn't sure using Windows terms like "taskbar" would work), I've solved plenty of stuff myself, like custom icon sets

@stray belfry But thank you! It's how I want it now

#

And with a final tweak, it looks very XP-y, which is what I want

I have already done so! But I'm more of a "2000s 3D design/skeumorphism" guy than a sleek minimalism guy, so it'll take some searching to find the right thing for me
Though I did find a good icon set in Obsidian

Man, even without going into full-on ricing, I love how customisable Linux is
