#What are the side effects of installing two different distros on the same computer?
19 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
it's totally fine if u have the space to divide up
it'll maybe take 3 seconds longer to boot cuz of the menu that will show
i get the select your player distro menu all the time so its alright
my other concern was, when making two different partitions, do i make the future other distro partition empty space or do i format it?
either way. the installer will format it.
I'm triple booting LM, Pop and DraugerOS on my computer no issues as long as the distros will play well sharing grub. Some will mess up grub because they don't expect to have to share.
You might want to check and see if Fedora is one of those.
It looks like you have to install Ubuntu first from a quick search on the web. But it sounds like you already have it installed so it should work.
Ubuntu same as Mint.
im actually already dual booting fedora xfce and mint cinnamon (accidentally) on the old laptop so like thats pog :D
I've got four Ubuntu based distros on my daily driver. It's great, just be aware of the idiosyncrasies of some distros. That's actually easy to research, though.
i dont aim on daily driving dual booting
im just dual booting on that laptop because its a laptop that im dedicating to linux experimentation
it has a 200-300 gig sata drive (legit forgor) in it so i can afford to do that
wait shit
its not working
its just booting into mint, not giving me the select your boot screen
Boot the mint live USB and run Grub Rescue from it.
i just cleared th e disk and reinstalled cinnamon
