Trying to do a fresh install on brand new comp using mint edge but as soon as i click install it goes to a black screen and the keyboard shuts off

found the fic went into cms and turned on legacy mode!

Legacy mode usually means MBR boot, which suggests you created your install medium that way. It is recommended to use GPT, so you will not need legacy. Also, that very recent GPU will only run properly on Mint if you use the Edge ISO with its newer hardware enablement kernel.
