before when i pressed [alt gr][a] it would show ·a with a dotted underline but now it shows nothing
how fix

Check one of the tabs in Keyboard Settings.

should be something there to enable right-Alt as the Compose key function.

just linux mint 21.3 cinnamon

the problem isn't that the compose key isn't working altogether it's just not doing the visual indicator it did before

it's not a big deal but it is slightly confusing every now and then

i installed linux mint only a month ago so i'm still a beginner

I see. where did the visual indicator appear before? in the system tray?

see if there's an option for the compose key settings to trigger a sound.. (im just relating to what KDE has.. not using cinnamon at the moment.
