#Root user can't open file?

Can't open files (png, jpg, etc) in a folder even as root. Only happens in one folder and its subfolders (others seem to work fine). Drives are all fine, Image Viewer installed.

What am I missing?

Checked permissions and it shows my user as owner, full read/write, etc but root level can't even open images. Did I somehow botch permissions for the root user or something?

Perhaps you don't have a default program for these file-types. Perhaps the files are corrupted.

You can try opening the files with xdg-open file.png in a terminal and see if you get an error message.

I checked a couple of file types and couldn't open videos (despite installing VLC) either, so I went back to Windows to check on them.

Turns out I'm dumb and forgot I enabled their file encryption on that folder, so I'm hoping that was the issue
