#"The login keyring did not get unlocked when you logged into your computer"

@near galleon It is a Security feature, I take it you don't enter a password when you boot into Mint
yeah when i first boot up, instead of typing my password is u se my fingerinstead. Theres like a finger scanner that i use
That could be why, I bet the finger scanner isn't the same as entering a password
hm that kinds sucks oof
let me try to login normally
huh that is strange, there is no option to use my password anymore its just the fingerscanner.
and nvm there is a fatal flaw lol
it turns out anyone could get passed the password screen
just scan any finger
Search program menu for login, see if it can be changed
i can changethe passwordbut not fingerprint
i cant find any settings related to fingerprints on mint
what i did was install somethingwith terminal and then it asked to input fingerprint
after that whenever I have to authenticate something it would ask for my fingerprint. but it seems to let any finger authenticate sometimes
do i follow the first or second box
Use Synaptic and see if the packages in the second post are installed
do i have to installsynaptic?
Synaptic Package Manager should be installed on Mint, Program menu/Admin
how do i remove something with it
I dont think i have open-fprintd
nvm it shows up but i cant do anything with it
I am not sure how you enabled fingerprint login then
before i tried synaptic i did this
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:uunicorn/open-fprintd
$ sudo apt-get update
wait I didnt do the second line
whats the difference between the left column and right column in synaptic
looks like the only thing installed was the libfprint package
The left side usually shows searches, anything with a green box on the right side means it is installed
it seems like the terminal method that didn't work for them worked for me
i didnt do anything in synaptic but i tried reloading and everythingand fingerprint request never showed up
Did it ask for password at boot?
it asked for password not fingerprint
so yeah it seems like fingerprint is gone now
@near galleon It's impossible, fyi
aw that sucks
The reason is that your fingerprint actually cannot be used to save secrets
Because your FP sensor actually do not tell your system what the hell the fingerprint is
It just tell the OS "yeah this thing matches my memory"
So it can't be used to secure a keyring
@near galleon There is a hack
Where you just don't set a keyring password at all.
yeah i read somewhere about disabling keyring
Keep in mind this means if anyone get access to your hard drive all your saved secrets (saved browser passwords, Wi-Fi credentials) are exposed
That means your enrollment failed
no it sometimes worke it sometimes doesnt
Yeah
like sometimes it rejects the wrong finger sometimes it doesnt
