I kinda want to buy one :
-does it have support for Linux ?
-for these types of keyboards that have RGB and extra buttons like the media ones how do you configure them ?

For Logitech stuff. There is a driver to modify how the keyboard functions (colours, media buttons, etc) however that driver is for windows only. If you are looking to use only Linux. There is an application called bottles where you can attempt using different comparability layers to try and run the software in Linux. I am unsure of any keyboard brands that do support drivers for Linux.

When I say driver I am referring to a piece of software that is able to communicate with the software on the keyboard itself. Regardless of os your keyboard will be able to input to your PC. (Typing and etc)

Right after a super quick search. There does seem to be a driver for Linux. But it is bash based. You will be editing the keyboard RGB using the console and you may not have full support of controlling the media keys.

However due note.

the keyboard (g213) DOES NOT have onboard memory.

It will not persist setups outside of windows. Or Linux (wherever you set it up)

Keep the ticket open just in case anyone knows of anything that might help, but if you do consider the keyboard be sure to use the Linux Bash driver I linked above.

#

It will allow you to set your profiles, animations and whatever.

Nope.

#

And that will be once set up and it runs every time you use Linux.

#

It will not persist between systems though. Your settings on Linux, stay on Linux. Your settings on windows stay on windows.

#

As far as I can tell, every time the keyboard connects it reads the profile config file on the respective os. For Linux you have the g810 driver to change that file. On windows you get official Logitech drivers.

Yeah but you can of course write a bash script for it. (Say for switching profiles or something).

# versed thistle i'll look more into this but this may be a bit too advanced for me ( i'll prob. ...

It's not for everyone, but you could try your hand (pun intended) at touch typing. It's a little hard to pick up but helped me through my beards of having no backlight. Again not for everyone and if you are typing at all it's good so don't feel pressured. But yeah, it doesn't look toooooo complicated unless you wanna change like defaults or something. But other then that. It's a apt install and then a single command. Nothing too crazy.

I have this same keyboard. I can configure the lights with OpenRGB, though cannot save it to the board.
