#reinstalling mint without losing data

The layout is messed or the core and package system?
no i installed a bunch of environments because i wanted my system to look like macos
but i didnt know that you should probably delete older enviroments or else there would be overlap and slowdown (and instability)
anyways i just decided fuck it and restarted the whole thing from scratch but it would be nice to know how for next time
I don't think there's a 'reset' simple way to undo the changes on a given desktop environment. some do have a 'set to default' button but that's on each window of a setting
You can do a full copy of your home folder to preserve application settings, plus any saved documents onto another drive. that Home folder can get pasted back into a new install.
