search transluscent windows, or blur transparent, or blurred backgrounds perhaps
@past forum any luck?
if no luck finding it in Extensions, then Jeremy's offer is done this way: go to the github page. read the first paragraph, scroll down to the Ubuntu 22 part about halfway down, all the instructions are there.
It doesn't work in Mint
what doesnt, the extensions or the github thing?
Ubuntu 21.10 / Ubuntu 22.04
There is a simple script to help you build the packages in ubuntu 21.10. It's neccesary to check the content of script. Before you build the packages, the Source code checkbox in Software & Updates should be enabled:
did u have 'git' installed plus the above thing checked?
git clone https://github.com/yilozt/mutter-rounded cd ./mutter-rounded/ubuntu ./package.sh
git is the program or command needed to clone the source code
the second line there changes to the driectory you cloned the code to
I am very familiar with git, even after changing the package.sh script it didn't work
the third line executes the package.sh script
should work cuz even though the github pages references gnome, it still talks about mutter
and Cinnamon uses Mutter, as the window handler
And then the thing add apt-file which makes doing apt update take forever
The script wants to see 21.10 or 22.04 in lsb-release, I fixed that but it still didn't work
well u on latest mint.. doesnt 22.04 already show that?
my only other guess is u have to configure the settings AFTER compiling the git, and running/installing the newly made .debs
via dconf-editor, the settings are located in /org/gnome/mutter:
It failed before making the debs so I gave up on it, not sure about KingALLO
i saw this warning on the github for it:
Issues:
It can be buggy with blur effect. see https://github.com/aunetx/blur-my-shell. If you are using intel driver in Xorg session, try create .drirc in your home directory to disable Vertical Synchronization:
if using Intel graphics ^
anyway, it's a shame one would have to go to such lengths for this.
There's no existing compositor or extension to use on Linux Mint Cinnamon to achieve this. on the XFCE and MATE variants you can replace the built-in compositor with another one that supports this effect, but your mileage may vary, and some configuration options may break in the process.
Sorry havent tried the Videos tips yet im in europe and was asleep then haha will try later today, thanks!
Its possible but there is just no Solution for it yet on cinnamon Right?
I installed KDE and now im instlling XFCE. Both have a whole lot of blur options although I am a big fan of the overall look of Cinnamon already I just wanted blur haha
