I'll help u find the issue but cant rn; later today
@boreal bloom can you post results for this command in terminal> sudo parted -l
I can't rn
I will try after 4th January
Yo
Reformat/recreate Ventoy USB and try again
Ok
I am trying tiny 10 is that fine or should i download win 10
¯_(ツ)_/¯
so you managed to install Windows 10 to the internal drive, correct?
if so, you likely need to adjust your current BIOS/UEFI setup (hit F7 at that screen shown in the picture) and Disable legacy boot /CSM. Enable boot-style: UEFI
if it's not in the F7 Advanced screen, it has to be in a main Boot category somewhere
ok. what stage are you at?
so hang on.. what is on the computer right now? any operating system at all?
@boreal bloom
Asus
Disable secure boot
to install Windows?
I meant what's on the computer's hard drive ? does it boot up to anything at all?
ah
Probably under Security
Secure boot disable
Csm enable
Legacy usb support enabled
Still showing verification error
Dunno why CSM is enabled
this looks better. at least you see the UEFI-mode USB flash drive now
in the short video above, when they had it off, it wouldnt show the uefi flash drive
Weird
maybe cuz Tiny 10 is unofficial
oh.. and disable Fast Boot
that may cause some checks to be skipped
it was in the video
Fixed
what did it?
the fast boot thing and the needing to add device and dsable secure prolly helped for sure
I pressed export secure boot variables and pressed whatever came then went back and ventoy showed
sounds gambly. oh well
you should delete all the photos you took off your camera, and take new ones (for your own records) of the way the exact settings are now
New problem
it's hard to see from vid, but can u click the NEW button when you've got the big partition selected?
Well, yeah, Windows installer doesn't know wtf to do with Linux filesystem partitions
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo if you don't have any data on there you need to backup, do a big old delete formatty time
@boreal bloom was there Linux installed previously? i take it yes, cuz i saw ubuntu in one of the bootloader options
Can i dm you?
no just post here
that's weird. it shows unallocated and plenty of free space
No partition made?
@boreal bloom can you hit the New button now
need to do partition table from there.. make it EFI / GPT
Converted to gpt but still the same
yeah p3, then Next button
hit format on that now
then it'll give u options.. NTFS n such
Gawd windows makes it tough, eh @pliant jetty ?
This is why I haven't used it in over 4 years
Might need partition table entirely cleared
have made partition table ✅ have tried to format p3 ❌
God I hate Windows tools so much
Bootable device isn't showing now :/
switch bios back to legacy.. ventoy likely has some legacy loader
Ah i hate this -_-
also if u have a second PC to do this... get this gparted-live-1.5.0-6-amd64.iso from https://gparted.org/download.php and use gparted run from it's live debian desktop environment to do a brand new partition table to that hard drive.
as Zebra suggested.
I think you can do it in the Windows CMD prompt also
no, just use the second pc, to get the gparted-live iso from the 'net, and copy it to ur ventoy drive
But this ventoy drive isn't even showing now
then u have option to boot either to winstaller or parted... and like i said switch bios back to legacy boot
or u have to redo ur ventoy stick with gpt partition method from its own installer
simplest way i think is go to BIOS setup, leave csm on, boot style legacy
I don't think i have any boot mode
u see here how boot option 2 says UEFI flash drive? the other mode will be saying JUST the flash drive name
i think since the efi files running stuff were on that hard drive now they're gone gone (good thing anyway) hence uefi cant see crap anymore
UEFI is like oldskool BIOS where 5% lives on the motherboard chip, and the other 95% lives on a secret hot spicy region of the SSD or hard-drive
WHereas oldskool legacy Bios was smaller, limited, n just lived in a ROM chip on mobo
Ok so tomorrow i will be making another ventoy or rufus usb with another pc and try it
Is that gonna work? @marsh sleet
if u wanna go that route, .. when ur in the ventoy2disk installer window, there's an options menu.. from there make sure to pick GPT style, Secure boot option ON, and then Install.
then copy ur win.iso and ur gparted-live.iso from that link i mentioned above to it.
Ok
I think i understand a bit now what you are saying
you'll basically remake ur same stick.. but better 😉
and we'll need gparted for sure to do a good redo of the HDD
ie -
Instead of gparted-live iso, which is about 512MB and a bit darn skimpy,
you may also get puppy linux lxde version here: http://lx-pup.weebly.com/
There's a reviews tab on that page showing youtube vids of it. (ofc it contains gparted partitioner program)
If you wanna get that instead, I recommend the lxpup 19.03 iso as it's solid.
LxPupBionic32-19.03+26.iso
-and it's only 294 MB iso download
