Nosobpray that's why I'm asking for help on to how to illustrate it cause I can't imagine it

torn dome
#

one ship sails at 125 degrees to this line

#

can u draw an arrow at 125 degrees to this line?

torn dome
clever rock
#

Wait wait ✋️

#

Like this?

torn dome
#

correct

#

draw another arrow at 230 degrees

clever rock
#

Uhm, separate or still somewhere in here?cat_happycry (I'm sorry I'm dumb)

torn dome
#

the first line u drew

#

the horizontal one

#

it represents (according to the question) "the port"

#

u shouldnt draw it seperately of course

clever rock
#

Then is it smthng like this

torn dome
#

its 230 degrees with respect to that horizontal line!

#

imagine that the first ship wasnt there how would u draw the second ship at 230 degree to the horizontal line?

#

the horizontal line means the reference line ( the --> one)

clever rock
#

Oke last one,,, is it smthng like this or should I just yeet myself nowsobbingTEArs sobbingTEArs sobbingTEArs

That’s less than 180

tall cobalt

knots are the speed units, I suppose

clever rock
#

This is my current progress. I'm currently lost on how to get the bearing. I got the angles and the sides. Tho haven't wrote the angles yet

$ship_{Ax}= 18cos(125 deg)$

$ship_{Ay} = 18sin(125^{deg})$

Sht I'm so unfamiliar with what I'm looking at

clever rock
tall cobalt

hold on

#

look

#

That is just how it looks when graphed

#

wait a bit, just let me cook

#

we are just gonna subtract ship 2 from ship one

#

lol

clever rock
#

Oh mb we don't use that

tall cobalt
#

it's simple

#

ship 2 has 24 knots and a rotation on the x-axis of cos(230 deg)

#

so 24 * cos of (230 deg)

#

for the y-axis, we have 24 * sin of (230 deg)

#

We compare them like so:

#

$distance_x = |18cos(125 deg) - 24cos(230 deg)|$

unique krakenBOT
#

André

tall cobalt
#

$distance_y = |18sin(125 deg) - 24sin(230 deg)|$

#

Now, we find the hypothenuse of your triangle!

clever rock
#

Uhh I got 100.6 for hypthinksweat

tall cobalt
#

$\sqrt{|18cos(125deg) - 24cos(230deg)|^2 + |18sin(125deg) - 24sin(230deg)|^2}$

#

@clever rock, it's this one

André

clever rock
#

Imma be real honest but like, I don't get itsobpray

Rather we uses the law of cosine formula and so I got 100.6. As for illustrating graph we uses only 4 directions by drawing it and nothhing,, so I'm quite confused rn

tall cobalt
#

you should be getting the correct one? (like 33.52 knots)

I will graph it rq
