#Is a math/physics double major worth it?

Right now I am an upcoming junior majoring in math-cs, which i am almost done with so I'm thinking of either specializing more in math or adding in a physics major since i am interested in it. I'm considering doing something related to applied math in the future, like scientific computation or mathematical physics, so I'm wondering if adding on physics in undergrad will help with that since the physics course load is a bit much.

How much physics have you taken already? It also depends a lot on your uni. Some, especially those that are more American-style, will let you add and remove majors and minors essentially on a whim; with those ones, I think it's basically always worth trying things out. In that case, if it doesn't work out, you can easily downgrade it to a minor, or something.

For a more British- or European-style school where you need to know what your major is going into the school and transferring programmes is more complicated; it may very well still be worth it depending on your personal plans, but you should be more sure about it before you commit to something like that.

Mathematics and CS is already a lot for lots of people; adding physics will take away from your ability to do higher-level courses in those first two subjects, just because there's only so many courses you can take.

Ultimately this doesn't answer it, but just gives you a couple more things to think about.

I started a double bachelor Math/Physics, but dropped Physics pretty quickly. Totally depends on the person and the university, if you can just try it out and drop the Physics at any point, you can totally consider giving it a try.
