i got the question right, but is it correct that the ^2 on the first bracket just disappears when i get the answer of that intersection using null factor law?

also, since that cubic has a squared value, i am confused on how that has 3 points of intersection, yet what i have been taught in class is that if a cubic has a squared value then it only has 2 x intercepts

gaunt jay
#

thats why im super confused

#

The highest power term is an x^4

gaunt jay
#

and if you graph it on a graphics calculator its a cubic

weak violet
#

Huh

#

When I graphed it, it looks like a quartic

gaunt jay
#

huh

#

we didnt learn abt quartics

#

at all

#

im in chapter 7 of grade 11 methods

#

havent even learnt that shit in specialist yet lol

weak violet
#

Do you have the image of the original question

gaunt jay
#

nvm it didnt say cubic

#

im stupid

#

mb

weak violet
#

Np

gaunt jay
#

so thats just a quartic?

weak violet
#

Yeah

gaunt jay
#

ohhhhhhhhh

#

thats why im confused

#

we havent learned anything abt quartics yet

weak violet
#

It follows the same rules

gaunt jay
#

ok thanks

#

so is that why it doesnt tap the x axis when it has a squared value?

weak violet
#

Which squared value

gaunt jay
#

like

#

yk how if cubics have a squared value in the equation

#

it taps the x axis

weak violet
#

Yes

gaunt jay
#

and only has 2 x intercept

#

since its a quartic is that why it has 3 x intercepts

weak violet
#

Yes

gaunt jay
#

ohhh ok

#

thanks

weak violet
#

It does tap the x axis

gaunt jay
#

thats what tripped me up alot

#

i was confused how it had 3 x intercepts

#

tyty
