#Is there some kind of online calculator that can take 2 equations and check if they yield the same

...values for all variables?

Eg, to give a simple example, lets say I have:

(a+b+c)/d=0

and

(a+c)/d=-b/d

I know that these equations are the same, but is there any kind of software that can help me verify this?

  1. Ask your question and show the work you've done so far. If you've posted a screenshot of a question, specify which part you need help with.
  2. Wait patiently for a helper to come along.
  3. Once someone helps you, say thank you and close the thread with:
    +close

  4. Feel free to nominate the person for helper of the week in #helper-nominations
  5. Do not ping the mods, unless someone is breaking the rules.
  6. If you're happy with the help you got here, and the server overall, you can contribute financially as well:

The reason that I ask is because sometimes I come up with different formulas than what my book suggests - and it can be a little cumbersome to verify that I've got it right

#

I would kinda just like to be able to enter 2 equations and have it tell me if I were to replace all of the variables (say a & b in my example above), it would be able to tell me if c is always the same in the 2 equations for all possible values of a & b

Sometimes I use desmos graph calc for it (and I can see if the graphhs overlap)

#

but desmos only supports x & y (what if I have more than 2 variables, say 4?)

Hm...
Well, Wolframalpha can sometimes help.

Can do this

Also equations are not equal

#

Algebraic expressions are

i don’t think OP ever called the equations “equal”

#

perhaps a better word would be “equivalent”

which part

#

I pointing this out is unnecessary

#

They said it yield the same result

#

So it can't be equations

#

It has to be algebraic expressions

#

I made that clear
