what have you tried?
a few things like drawing some diagrams and just thinking, can you give me a sec, i'll give this a solid try
number of favourable outcomes/total outcomes
I'm not really sure on how to do this question
can you expand
u gotta use permutation combination
for total outcomes it would be
I haven't learnt combi or perms
in that case , i think it's just 3/7
since there are 3 girls
and 7 people
wait
no
no, the answer is 7/15
7/11
how many committees can you form where (at least) one member is a girl
it cant be 7/15 :/
how many can you form where both are girls
3?
there’s 4 boys and 8 girls
you can make a few more than 3
@vestal escarpare u SURE it is 7/15
yeah, it says on the answers, could be wrong tho
should be 7/11
4*8 + the combinations within the boys and the combinations within the girls
if u want the solution here it is
but i have no idea what';s going on
because i haven't studied this notation
i didn't
it's a probability chapter, we haven;t started combi yet
12!/12-2! * 2!
= 11*6
=66
go learn combinations bro
I will, but later 😭
then do this ques later
yeah, i'll skip it for now
I'll leave this open though if someone can do without combi
😭 it's not possible
u would need to manually count every possibility
😭
@vestal escarp anyway i can explain you the overview without u needing to know combinations
alright
for total outcomes you choose combinations of 2 out of the total 12
so its 12C2
since there it atleast 1 girl
we need to subtract 4C2
which are the combinations in which both are boys
so with formulae and shi we get 66-6
=60
then for favourable outcome
we choose 2 girls out of the 8 we have which is 8C2
which gives u 28 on solving and shi
so 28/60
=7/15
@vestal escarp has given 1 rep to @cloud granite
yea
