ok
ok so do you know how to calculate area of composite shapes?
no😊
Ok so to calculate area of composite shapes, you need to break down the specific shapes area, and than add them together
um
triangle and square
ok
Yep
so do you know how to find area for triangle and square?
no
Ok so the formula for a triangle is
0.5xbasexhiehgt
square is lengeth x width
now solve it
to solve composite shape area, you need to add together fhr area of the 2 shapes
whats the area
cant u just tell me the answer
No, I'm here to teach not just tell you the answer
@prisma mauve how old are you?
Ok good
u mean all the numbers added up right?
No thats perimetre. Area is when you multiply the length and width
there you go, thats the first shape done
ok now to the triangle
do you know pythagerous @prisma mauve
no
this is pythag formula
so the hypotenuse is c^2
square 2??
C to the power of 2
mk
ok so pythag is c^2=a^2+b^2
so you have c^2
@prisma mauve you also have one another length can you figure it out?
theres another lengh?
So to use pythagerous, you need 2 lengths.
you have the hypotenuse, which is c^2
you need another length
theres only 9 and 15
so you have the hypotenuse (longest side) which is 15. thats your c^2 done. Now you also have a^2, which is your 9.
so your formula is
15^2=9^2+b^2
can you solve this algrebrically?
u can use EQUA on your calc if u have one.
i do have a calc
you shouldnt be using calc for this
dont use an calc for this
you need to do this on paper
ok
u can check with it.
what are those mini arrows?
that means to the power of
no, to the power of
@daring vector how do I get latex here
$ 2^2 $
Idk how to solve it
Don’t put the space
$2^2$
Broken Sigma
ight so do you know basic algrebra
no
write it on paper
ok @prisma mauve I think you should practice basic algrebra solving skills before trying problems such as this sorry :(
anyway
$c^2=a^2+b^2
15^2=9^2+b^2
225=81+b^2
now subtract 81 from both sides
144=b^2
square root it
b=12
Learn basic algrebra and pythag before these kinda questions, trust me itll make it 10x easier$

they want the answer in a decimal
there's no decimal..
look
is that it?
@prisma mauve you put it as 57.0
no
Yeah
huh
12 is just the side
@violet hill can you help @prisma mauve
@prisma mauve do you know the area of triangle formula?
I can try
Which grade are you in?
9
do you know what are right angled triangles?
yes
so for calculating the area of a right angle triangle you multiply both the sides and divide the product by 2
so can you now tell me the area of the triangle?
did u get me @prisma mauve ?
both sides of the triangle?
theres only 1 number on the triangle
mhm
yes, so you should now multiply both of them and divide the result by 2
both?
(9*second side which you found out)/2
multiply 15 by 9
5?

um
yes
CoolGeek
solve this and then find it's square root
144
that will be the unknown side
what is the square root of 144?
12
so, now you have found out the unknown side
can you find the area of the triangle now?
(9*unknown side)/2
huh
yh
substitute it there
what
whats the star btw
multiplication
54?
its called an asterisk
144??
54+45
99
thats ur answer
but it wants it as a decimal
are there any options?
no
ok
is it a test?
Thanks
@prisma mauve has given 1 rep to @violet hill
welcome
do I close it now
I think even Broken sigma deserves it

:)
@prisma mauve dont forget to do basic algrebra practice, its really important

lol, I'll just leave the thing here then
