I am currently going through exercises in 4th edition of "Introduction to Mathematical Statistics" by Hogg Craig and I am confused by exercise 1.38 (pic attached). Do I misunderstand something, or can the induced probability of A_5 be found just by P(A_1)-P(A_4), given that A_5 and A_4 are both subsets of A_1, and A_5=(A_4^* \cap A_1)? If so, why are we given several other subsets in the task description?
#Random Variables task too simple?
