Could I please get some help with 3.2, I can not solve it as there are no values, is there any way to solve it without values? if so then what would the answers be

  1. Wait patiently for a helper to come along.
  2. Once someone helps you, say thank you and close the thread with:

  1. Feel free to nominate the person for helper of the week in #helper-nominations
  2. Do not ping the mods, unless someone is breaking the rules.
  3. If you're happy with the help you got here, and the server overall, you can contribute financially as well:

So, you can make a system of equations.

Thank you, I will try that, can I let u know if i still struggle with something

low reef

Sure!

Yes I think so as well

#

do you know the answer to it?

amber compass
#

I have an intuition.

echo zephyr
#

And what is your intuition

amber compass
#

I think the major constraint here is how the major diagonal bisects the minor angle.

#

That is to say, how the diagonal divides Angle A into two equal angles of measure x.

echo zephyr
#

It doesnt make sense to me

amber compass
#

Why not?

#

Actually, there is exactly one case where Angle D can also be x. I still think it's probably a typo, though, as the figure is drawn way off-scale for that case.

#

I know figures aren't always to scale, but they do usually at least try to make sure that the acute angles are acute.

Why they made the mistake on such an important paper

amber compass
#

What do you mean "such an important paper"?

echo zephyr
#

It is worth a lot for my grade this year

#

And I would like to achieve a high result

#

So you are saying that there is a typo?

amber compass
#

Technically speaking there's a solution where it's not a typo.

low reef
#

Well, the solution is still possible, just less interesting.

amber compass
#

But, again, the figure is incredibly off-scale for that case.

echo zephyr
#

It is only a convenience for it to be on scale

amber compass
#

...like I just said, I know that, but they usually make sure the acute angles are acute.

amber compass
#

And actually now that I think about it the case where it's not a typo is the only case where there's exactly one solution.

#

But then there's no Z anywhere in the figure at all.

echo zephyr
#

So can you tell me the possible solutions?

amber compass
#

How much do you remember about angles and parallel lines?

echo zephyr
#

Not much
