hello. i am starting to lose it and i am not sure if i am stupid or if the solutions in my maths book have an error in their third exercise:
g(x) = x^3/2 - x^2/2 - 3x
what is the slope of the secant* going through A = (-1 | g(-1)) B = (3 | g(3))
My solution: -0.75, Solution according to my Book: -0.5

for A i got -1 | 3 and for B i got 3 | 0

#

the book wants me to give the slope of the tangent going through A and B

signal stirrup
#

does the book say the word "tangent"

unreal ridge
#

omg wait no secant i am sorry its late and i am translating from ger to eng

#

its almost the same word eitherway but still lmao

signal stirrup
#

oh i see

#

i found the tangent gradient at A

#

ill do the actual question now lol 1 sec

unreal ridge
#

okay so in conclusion i am an idiot, thanks xD

Nah

in my defense my calculator gave me the same answer i got for g(-1) = 3

#

do u want to be nominated?

signal stirrup
#

u need to put brackets around that -1

#

(-1)^2 is not the same as -1^2
