in context of the video, he seemingly pulled the sums out of nowhere, and he noticed a pattern in these sums in order to simplify it down to

that isnt really a rule, just noticing some patterns, but its called the product formula for infinite series, he derived with a_i and b_i so that it is more general and the viewers actually get familiar with the rule for all cases and not just the one he talked about in the video
basically for this, he did it treating x^n/n! and y^n/n! as single terms a_i and b_i
