I have a test tomorrow and i'm very much in need of an easy explanation to both of these terms with examples if possible... truthfully, no clue how to identify them and whatnot

i need help identifying what the terms mean, how i can understand how i get these values, and using some examples

basically when the graph of y = f(x) is multiplied by some term in order to shrink the graph or stretch it, it just means become wider if vertical stretch or become narrower if vertical shrink.

so like y=af(x) where a is constant. if 0<a<1 then the graph shrinks vertically so its called a vertical shrink and if a>1 then it experiences vertical stretch

y=f(ax) where a is a constant. if 0<a<1 then the graph stretches horizontally and if a>1 then the graph shrinks horizontally

try graphing these on desmos with a constant a of your choice to see what i mean
