Normally if you minus something from a negative number (like although the number is smaller) the digits are bigger if u get what I mean
eg) - 14 - 3 = -17

but with percentages it's different, why?

eg) -14 - 5% = -14 - (-14 * 5/100) = -13.3

although the number is bigger, why have the actuall digits gotten smaller? u get me?

@loud orchid Another way to look at it is subtracting 5% of a number is the same as multiplying it by 0.95. Naturally since 0.95 < 1, the product will have a smaller absolute value
