which method have you been taught to solve these? factoring? quadratic formula? vietas formulas?

yup! eirher solve the quadratic by the quadratic formula, C.T.S. or factorizing

neat violet
#

I tried factoring but failed miserably.

typically id just use the quadratic formula cause factorizing a quadratic when the coefficient of yhe x² term is > 1 can be a pain..

Let @twin smelt cook

#

Hol on

austere rose
#

and try factoring again

neat violet
#

Let me try the quadratic formula

austere rose
#

and yes it is factorable i think

#

try facyoring out a -5

neat violet
#

With the quadratic equation, it seems like X can be -1 or -2

#

-b +- sqrt b^2-4ac gives -15 +- 5

#

Dividing by 10

#

-20 or -10 divided by 10

austere rose
#

is a not -5

#

so its divided by -10

neat violet
#

Because time cannot be negative the answers are 10 a 20?

#

Well there needs to be 2 real solutions

austere rose
#

-20/-10 is real

#

so is -10/-10

neat violet
#

Yea

#

The ball is being thrown up and coming down so

#

And the discriminant >0

#

So the ball is thrown up, reaches 11m when going up by the 10th second and again when falling down at the 20th second

#

?

austere rose
#

well you can check
