How does the negative division works, what will be the reminder and quotient when -5 is divided by 4. Also what will be the absolute result of -5/4
Asking this, as some suggest when -5 is divided by 4, quotient is -2 and reminder is 3, and other suggest quotient is -1 and reminder is -1.

Suppose you have $\frac{-a}{b} or \frac{a}{-b}$ this is the same as -1*$\frac{a}{b}

But by definition remainder cannot be negative

Oh wait you meant remainder mb

#

Suppose you have -5/4

#

This equals -1.25
The largest whole number lower than this is -2
-2 = -8/4
-5 - (-8) = 3
Remainder is 3

but usually if they asked you for remainder both numerator and denominator are both positive
