Well, calculate both of their magnitudes first if you're not sure.
how do i calcute a value i dont have? How to i turn -2v into a value
You don't need to obtain an exact value.
Suppose the magnitude of v is |v|. Then what is the magnitude of -2v?
-2|v|...im not sure what your asking honestly lol
No, that's not correct.
Suppose a is a constant and v is a vector. Then |av| = |a||v|. The magnitude is always nonnegative, after all.
So, what would |-2v| be?
2v, so that makes v shorter right? Just making sure that’s how this all works
Yes.
Basically, |av|/|v| = |a|, as long as |v| is not zero.
When you multiply a vector by a constant, its length is multiplied by the absolute value of that constant.
That makes sense, a lot of sense thank you. Do you mind talking Em through this one two…maybe one or two more. It really depends on how many I have. I just need help lol, my deadlines Friday and it’s killing me. I was so confident turning in one of the assignments…like 100 percent sure I got it all mostly right…only to be devastated lol
I don’t trust myself anymore lol
