they rearrange so that 3^(k+1) and 2×3^(k+1) is together then factor out 3^(k+1)
hmm maybe im not fully understanding
just factorise $3^{k+1}$, so let $x = 3^{k+1}$ then the expression u sent is $x - 3 + 2x$ which is the same as $ 3x - 3 = 3(3^{k+1}) - 3$
